Every year, millions of people around the world are forced from their homes due to the effects of conflict or disaster. Many of these people find themselves internally displaced into different types of sites: planned camps, spontaneous settlements, collective centers, and evacuation centers. Displacement often means being powerless, cut off from important services and protections, and being left without a say in decisions which will impact your life. Camp coordination and Camp management or CCCM ensures fair and dignified access to assistance, information, and protection to those displaced, not just in camps but in all collective displacement sites.
The objective of Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM) is to ensure equitable access to assistance, protection, and services for internally displaced persons (IDPs) living in displacement sites, to improve their quality of life and dignity during displacement while seeking and advocating for durable solutions.
CCCM Methodologies
CCCM methodologies are applied in communal displacement settings; collective centers, camps (spontaneous and planned), camp-like settings, and communal settlements. In such way, the CCCM unit supports field operations with tools, guidance and capacity building to coordinate and manage displaced populations effectively.
