Response overview
Under the R4V Platform, IOM and UNHCR co‑lead a multi‑sectoral response addressing CCCM, shelter, healthcare, cash assistance, education, protection (e.g., GBV, child safeguarding), and WASH, through 9 sectoral and 5 cross‑cutting operational working groups, delivered regionally, sub‑regionally, nationally and locally.
Country synopsis
A prolonged crisis triggered by economic collapse, political instability, and humanitarian needs has pushed nearly 7.9 million Venezuelans to flee globally, with 6.5–7.7 million in Latin America and the Caribbean. The crisis response is led regionally by the Inter‑Agency Coordination Platform for Refugees and Migrants from Venezuela (R4V), co‑chaired by IOM and UNHCR, and spans 17 countries including internal and external displacement. Key challenges include restricted access to healthcare, shelter, education, livelihoods, and formal documentation for many (estimated 4.18 million people struggling to access basic services).
